Maria Dubec

A graduate of the Animation programme at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam (2025). She is currently studying Experimental Film at the Magdalena Abakanowicz University of Arts in Poznań, where she is primarily involved in film-related activities in the fields of 3D animation and mixed media. She is interested in combining organic elements with the digital world. She creates realities full of unease through visualisations on the fringes of the uncanny valley.

UV, 3’50’’ | 2026

UV is an experimental 3D animation. The project was inspired by the memory of the skin and its accumulation of experiences, even when these leave no marks or scars. In these abstract visualisations, the body transforms into a topology, a map of the world surrounding it, becoming that which it experiences. It blurs the boundaries between the external and the internal. Through 3D form and the use of UV maps (the model’s mesh in 3D jargon), the skin becomes something alien, an autonomous entity on the edge of the uncanny valley. The digital techniques employed in the production emphasise the dynamism of experiences and undermine their materiality – depriving viewers of a scale of reference in the traditional form of the body.

White Death, loop | 2026

The project is an interactive generative installation created using TouchDesigner, which explores how the language of media information influences our perception of reality. It can instil fear or hostility, heighten patriotism, or elicit other emotional responses that unconsciously shape how we view the world.

In the current version, the system analyses online headlines – which I have collected in an external database – for the presence of keywords (compiled in a separate database). If a particular word appears in a sentence, particles are generated. Similarly, if more keywords are present, more particles are generated on the screen.

Kobiety Anteny is an artistic duo comprising Agata Lankamer (b. 1994) and Agata Konarska (b. 1995), active since 2021. Their practice stems from a fascination with new technologies, science fiction and esotericism. Key themes in their work include violence and rituality, explored from a posthumanist perspective.

The duo works in the field of digital art and new media, creating installations that combine sculpture, video and performance. An important element of their practice is the construction of narratives and speculative stories centred on the alter egos they create.

Both artists are graduates of the Media Art programme at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.

LoRa is an artistic project dedicated to the phenomenon of cyberbullying in the age of artificial intelligence. The title refers to generative models, whilst also evoking associations with the names of female protagonists in pornographic films.

The works juxtapose medieval instruments of torture and public humiliation with contemporary forms of digital violence, such as deepfakes, public shaming and online harassment. In doing so, they highlight the continuity of mechanisms of control, violence and humiliation, which, with the development of technology, take on new, less visible forms.

Drawing, amongst other things, on John W. Schiemann’s book Does Torture Work?, the artists juxtapose the logic of interrogation and the extraction of information with the process of training and prompting AI models. They are interested in the similarities between these procedures and the mechanisms of control and manipulation inherent in them.

The work explores questions concerning the relationships between power, representation and the body, and how new technologies are transforming contemporary understandings of intimacy, sexuality and violence.
