Biometric audiovisual performance

A live solo performance in which the body is the only instrument. Sensors read the performer's brain activity, heart rate, breathing and movement, and a custom-built system translates those signals into sound and image in real time.

No buttons, no controllers, no pre-recorded material: everything the audience hears and sees is generated live from the body during the performance.

The piece unfolds as a dialogue between the body and the system. Each signal has its own voice, and the signals shape one another: movement transforms the sound of the brain, breathing alters the rhythm of the heart.

Over the course of the performance, the audience witnesses a nervous system made audible and visible on stage.
